External Quality Control can be defined as a program in which multiple samples are periodically sent to the members of a group of laboratories for analysis and/or identification purposes through independent institutions or organizations. The results of each laboratory are compared with the results of other laboratories in the group and/or with an assigned value and reported to the participating laboratories and others. External quality control is a tool for laboratories to test its accuracy. A participating laboratory can compare the results in its own method and device with different methods and devices in other laboratories.
